Part 2 of 3: Read the next post first, unless confusion excites you.

Due to the DEAD SPRINT, I have still not fully been able to clean the kitchen fully. I promise you, Cass, that when I return the quesadilla maker, it will be in sanitary condition. Here are a few pictures from the party. As I was preparing to feed people, I realized something absolutely insane. In the, I don't know, 11 years I've know Rita (and we lived together for two years, mind you) I have never fed her. Never. Can't think of one time. So, this party was a monumental event in reciprocation. Yeah, now the score is Rita: 237, Katie: 1.

It's Been Awhile...

I have spent the last several weeks in what feels like a DEAD SPRINT. People shouldn't really sprint for as long as I feel like I've been sprinting because, afterall, sprints by their very nature are supposed to be SHORT. I shouldn't complain, though. In fact, please remove any tone of complaint from your reading of the previous sentences. Although my sprint has been slammed with onerous labor and frustration, the the ferocity of the sprint was heightened by my efforts to squeeze a whole lot of fun stuff into the hours I was actually absent from my secondary residence on Kenwood Road. So, for sanity's sake (and because I'd prefer, as I have mentioned in the past, not to Dooce myself) let's not dwell on the negative but glory in the positive.

Take, for example, a few weeks back when Brian and I lit away to the grand ole city of Nashville for a weekend. You would think that during a nice little trip to a new city I would manage to get a better picture of the two of us than this one...where I am simply ALL TEETH. But, hey, at least Brian's looking good. This picture was taken on the campus of Vanderbilt University. A walk through that campus reminded me in a big way that the pull on me to return to a university life is undeniable. Our evenings in Nashville were filled with food and honkytonk bars, pool games and laughter. And, thanks to Brian, I was able to set-aside my self-destructive sleep habits of late and rest until noon.

Continiuing on with the positive stuff...a few days later, back in Cincinnati, there was Band of Horses, playing at the grand opening of the new, improved and relocated Alchemize where somehow I managed to impress Mike of the Heartless Bastards into buying Brian and I drinks. How did I impress him, you might wonder? Well, I just mentioned that I was a friend of Dan Schmidt's. That'll get you places, people. Use it. But, don't play that card too often, or you might ruin it for the rest of us.

THEN, a few days later, with the help of my tireless parents, I managed to clean my house to an acceptable degree and have 12 of my very favorite people over for a night of OSU football and quesadillas. (continued above because I can't remember how to reverse the order of my blog posts...I SWEAR Blogger changed things around on me when I wasn't looking. I swear.)
